Challenge
Orange Pill App previously relied on limited payment methods for its subscription plans. Most users paid through fiat channels or app store billing systems that could introduce delays, high fees, currency conversions, and restrictions on cryptocurrency transactions. This did not align with the expectations of their user base, who preferred privacy, peer-to-peer payments, and full control over their funds.
Orange Pill App wanted a payment solution that accepted Bitcoin and aligned with its values while supporting both recurring offerings and long-term membership options. The team also needed an integration that could be added to their existing backend without building a complex payment infrastructure from the ground up.
Solution
Orange Pill App integrated Speed using its merchant account and a Checkout page to accept payments in Bitcoin. When a user selects a yearly or lifetime membership plan, Orange Pill App creates a checkout session through the Speed API and generates a Lightning invoice. The user simply pays the invoice to complete the purchase.
Speed handles the payment processing, validation, and settlement while Orange Pill App activates the membership on its platform the moment payment is confirmed. The entire process works without card processors, app store billing, or third party intermediaries.
The team avoided building a Lightning node or managing crypto infrastructure. Instead, they gained a fast, secure, and reliable way to collect subscription revenue in Bitcoin.

Orange Pill App launched crypto payments for its subscription plans and saw strong adoption among users who preferred paying in Bitcoin. Reasonable performance outcomes include:
